As Ashanti previously released a Christmas album, she and the producers of her televised holiday movie thought it would be a great idea to include some of her songs in the film. Def Jam, however, would not sign off on it, so she recorded five new tracks that eventually became an all new holiday EP. The "Braveheart" singer also spoke on donating toys via Toys for Tots this holiday season, as well as her consistent work with The Boys & Girls Club of America.
Lastly, she spoke on her grandfather marching with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., saying she heard all the stories of his great work during the Civil Rights movement and has read the newspaper coverage of her grandfather's efforts from the 1960s.
