The San Francisco Police Department has officially launched an investigation looking into an incident where a police officer reportedly pushed a wheelchair-bound into the street.

According to the Huffington Post, Bo Bo Frierson approached a group of SFPD officers after his friends were being questioned on Jan. 18. Police were called after a group of men were arguing in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood. While the cameraman and several others warned Frierson not to head towards the officers, he refused and drove his motorized scooter to the other side of the street. Frierson is seen in the video talking to the police and several of them try to move his wheelchair from the street corner. Then, an officer identified from the bystanders as Officer Carrasco, is seen pushing the wheelchair-bound man into the street. Frierson is saved by the cameraman and his seat belt.

"He tried to dump me out, you can see, a couple of times. Lucky for the seat belt," Frierson said. "What if I were to just fall on my face? I mean, I could have died."

Carrasco is heard talking to the camera man claiming Frierson - who suffers from a spinal injury - ran over his foot. Officer Grace Gatpandan, a spokesperson from the SFPD, says that investigators started looking into the incident due to the overwhelming amount of complaints the force received after the video went viral on the MLK holiday weekend.
