Utah police have justified a shooting that involved a police officer and a man during a domestic violence incident last month.

According to The Salt-Lake Tribune, Syracuse police arrived at the home of Thomas G. Hamby's girlfriend for a domestic violence call. The woman claimed Hamby was acting strange and pointed a gun towards her. Body cam footage shows pieces of the incident as Jennifer Walker of the Syracuse Police Department, Deputy Joshua McEwen of the Davis County Sheriff's Office and Deputy Neil Major of the Davis County Sheriff's Office took out their weapons and ordered Hamby to put down his weapon.

Hamby refused and allegedly shot at the police, causing them to return fire. While it's difficult to see the incident play out, audio supports claims the officers made to the public. Chief of the Criminal Division at the Utah AG's Office says the shooting was justified. The officers have not been fired or suspended for the incident.
