During a recent sit-down with VladTV, Murda Mook looked back on the first ever live cypher at the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards in which some of the biggest names in battle rap proved they're more than capable of rapping over a beat.

While his performance at last year's Hip Hop Awards wasn't Mook's first time being in a cypher, he feels it was his most important, as it was a chance to demonstrate to the world that battlers can hold their own in what he calls "rap-rap," as opposed to battle rap. Mook had performed in the cypher the year before with DMX, Eve, and Cassidy, but he feels his verse in that performance wasn't memorable. For 2014, he went into the cypher with the goal to drop a verse that people would never forget, a feat that many fans who watched the cypher feel he accomplished.

Moving on, Mook explains that BET producers were hesitant to put on an all battle rapper cypher, but Snoop Dogg was able to convince them to go with it.

"First you gotta shout out Snoop for having the ultimate confidence in us...Snoop fought for that," Mook says. "That wasn't like some thing they just wanted to do, and they came to Snoop and were like 'Yo, we have this idea.'"
