Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth, who is the Swedish minister of culture, recently landed in hot water for her actions in what's being labeled a "racist spectacle".
The woman was part of an exercise that served to highlight female circumcision as a problem. But the way in which she presented the topic is what has many people calling for her dismissal.
A rather large cake was created in the form of an African woman, which was then cut open. As the Swedish minister took her turn, her laughing and partying upset several of those around her.
Kitimbwa Sabuni, spokesperson for the National Afro-Swedish Association, had this to say:
"Her participation, as she laughs, drinks, and eats cake, merely adds to the insult against people who suffer from racist taunts and against women affected by circumcision".
