Alan L. O'Neill, a corrections officer of Tacoma, Washington, is facing bigamy charges after his estranged wife found out he'd remarried without divorcing her via Facebook.
Ellenora Fulk, O'Neill's first wife, logged onto Facebook and the site suggested she befriend Teri Wyatt-O'Neill, and recognized the man in her profile picture drinking champage with Teri. On further inspection Ellenora realized that the photo was of her estranged husband and Teri's wedding day.
The only problem with the situation was that Mr. O'Neill had failed to get divorced from Ellenora before marrying Teri. Documents state that Mr. O'Neill allegedly asked Ms Fulk not to tell anybody about his dual marriages and promised he would fix it.
Mr. O'Neill was placed on administrative leave from his correction officer's job after prosecutors charged him on Thursday. He could face up to a year in jail if convicted.
