While on stage during a Pepsi-sponsored concert, Nicki Minaj brought out female rap veteran Foxy Brown and publicly showed the fellow New York female lyricist a ton of love. Before getting back into the music, the Young Money superstar explained how Foxy's 2001 album "Broken Silence" inspired her.
"Broken Silence changed my f****** life," Nicki said to the packed audience. "I always loved Foxy but when she put out Broken Silence I knew [she] was an innovator, an intelligent, beautiful, feisty, crazy sometimes, but ahead of your time."
Before Lil Wayne and Drake took the stage alongside her, Nicki finished off her Foxy Brown compliments by thanking her.
"Foxy, I want to thank you for being one of my biggest influences in the game. And a lot of times we don't really [thank] you like we should. There isn't a female rapper that opened more doors for me than you. You and Lauryn, thank you."
