Drake and J. Cole's collaborative track "Jodeci Freestyle" has attracted plenty of unwanted negative attention, with some even putting together a petition against the rappers for a controversial line.
Apparently, many didn't take kindly to Cole's "retarded" reference, in which he said, "I'm artistic, you n*ggas is autistic, retarded." The Anti-Bullying Alliance and autism activist Anna Kennedy are now demanding an official apology from the two, and would like to see the lyric removed from the song. They began a petition on change.org, and have already compiled 2,500 signatures since July 13.
"It's time we recognized people with autism for the exceptional human beings that they are and make a stand," said Kennedy.
In all likelihood, nothing will come of this. Drake and J. Cole are not bound by the law to remove anything because of the petition, so unless they are feeling extra sympathetic, the line will stay.
