A woman was forced to claw her way out through a wall after spending eight hours locked in her office building's bathroom. Karen Perrin, who is wife of former Redskins running back Lonnie, was working late Friday night when she stopped by the bathroom before heading home.
Leaving her cellphone at her desk, she used the restroom, but after washing her hands found the entrance had been locked shut during her stay. Jiggling, kicking and pushing the latch failed to make it budge.
Growing more nervous by the second, she told ABC News: "That's when it hit me. I'm locked in here."
Feeling "hopeless," and "desperate to escape," Perrin, who suffers from claustrophobia, said she "felt like I was going to die in there because of the anxiety I was feeling."
Unable to call for help, she first shoved 200 paper towels under the door in a bid to get the attention of surveillance camera guards.
As a final throw of the dice, she tried using a metal bar to hack through a wall next to the door — hoping she'd then be able to put her hand through and open it from the other side. It took two hours and ended with several cuts to her hands but after eight hours of being trapped, she finally managed to flee.
"It felt like I was escaping a bad dream, like when you have a nightmare and you wake up and your heart is pounding and you realize, 'Oh, I was just dreaming. Did that happen. Am I OK?'" she told ABC News.
