Bas opens up about his relationship with J.Cole, explaining that he knew him from friends who knew the "Work Out" rapper when he was still going to St. Johns University. He adds that he went out on J.Cole's tour, learned a lot from what works with the fans, and started working on his own rap career.
When asked about a pact being made about getting his rap career popping after J.Cole blew up, Bas said that couldn't be further from the truth. He explains that J.Cole has had friends that have been rapping longer than him but the North Carolina rapper saw talent in Bas, and signed him to his Dreamville Label.
Bas reveals that things really started coming along for him after J.Cole played some of his tracks for No I.D. and Salaam Remi, who really liked what Bas had going on. Soon after, he inked his first label deal and brought things full circle with Cole's Dreamville imprint.
