TMZ journalist Van Lathan opens up about his job at TMZ as a content creator, and reveals that he broke a story about NYC strip clubs beefing up their hot girl quota during the 2014 Super Bowl. Lathan explains that he likes to keep things fun with his job at TMZ, but divulges on the not so fun aspects, like reporting on NFL stars like Jonathan Dwyer allegedly head-butting his longtime girlfriend.
After speaking about other alleged domestic violence incidents, like Jets baller Quincy Enunwa being released from the team for alleged abuse, Van says that NFL players are under heavy review. He points out what happened with Ray Rice, and believes that other players realized the implications of such actions. Van adds, "No NFL player should even be raising to his voice to his girl for the next 12 months to two years."
The conversation then turns to Atlanta Hawks controlling owner Bruce Levinson sending out emails that spoke negatively about the black community. Van says that judging on Donald Sterling's case, some NBA owners may not be afraid to have billionaires like Oprah bidding to buy their team. He proves his point about such situations drumming up publicity by pointing out that NBA legend Dominique Wilkins is thinking about putting a group together to buy out the Hawks.
TMZ has also expanded their primetime viewership with "TMZ Hollywood Sports" premiering on the Reelz Network tonight.
