Basking in the afterglow of the hard-earned success received from the release of his latest LP, 'Love Sex Passion,' Raheem DeVaugh made time to speak with VladTV. Within this exclusive clip, the DMV crooner shared his list of whom he considers to be the top five male singers, dead or alive.
Since Michael Jackson is the de facto King of Pop, he was excluded from inclusion on the list. After agreeing to the stipulation, Raheem readily named some iconic vocalists including Prince, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, and Bob Marley.
DeVaughn was then challenged as to why notable artists like John Lennon and Elton John failed to make the list, and the "I Don't Care" artist insisted, "I'm a big Beatles fan, but for me it was the songwriting." He went on to add, "That's what I appreciated the most when I listened to The Beatles." A similar reason was given as to why Elton John wasn't included.
Later, when R. Kelly's name is mentioned, DeVaughn reveals his passionate opinion on the singer, declaring, "R. Kelly is a genius!" While Rah shared his respect for the "12 Play" connoisseur, he also confessed that Kelly's recent work has him perplexed, saying, "I'm just confused by him, lately."
Finally, when he reflected over his list, Raheem confessed that "these are some of my favorites," and the "Mo Betta" chanter went on to speak on how each artist draws inspiration from another. Be sure to watch the full clip and leave your comments below.
