Love & Hip Hop fans know Mendeecees Harris has had some trouble with the law over the last two years, serving time while his fiancee, Yandy Smith, shot episodes for season 4. While Smith paid his $600,000 bond so he could come home and be a part of season 5, he may be headed back behind bars, as the reality star just pled guilty to drug trafficking just weeks before his televised wedding on VH1.
The case involved Mendeecees shipping $2.5 million worth of cocaine and heroin to upstate New York between 2005 and 2012. The 35-year-old father of three admitted he was in the wrong and pled guilty to narcotics conspiracy yesterday (4/21) in court. Pleading guilty means he won't serve the mandatory 20 years if he were to take the case to trial and actually be found guilty. Instead, he faces 5-40 years in federal prison and/or a fine ranging anywhere from $15,000 to $5 million. He'll also have to hand over all the money he's made from L&HH as well as from club appearances, so far totaling $103,000. Harris' brother and co-defendant Tyrus was brought up on drug conspiracy charges last year and was sentenced to five years in federal prison after he also pled guilty last June.
The judge did, however, allow Mendeecees to remain free until his August 31th sentencing, meaning he can still tie the knot with Yandy next month. See pics of the couple above. Do you think Yandy will stick around once he's sentenced?
