In an unanimous decision early Sunday morning, Floyd Mayweather won the "Fight of the Century" against Manny Pacquiao, now making him 48-0.
According to the New York Times, fans booed Mayweather while Pacquiao believed he won the fight. The fight was years in the making as 16,000+ people flooded the MGM Grand and millions watching from their TV sets. To some, the fight didn't live up to the hype, as Mayweather strategically calculated his punches, while Pacquiao made several attempts to land punches, but to no avail.
"Manny Pacquiao is still a champion," Mayweather said. "He still has a lot left. I was the better man tonight — more calculated fighter, took my time, had patience. I know the judges weren't going by the crowd screaming," Mayweather said. "The judges were going by shots landed."
Mayweather has one more fight to go but the 38-year-old is ready to walk away from the game soon. Critics are hoping his last fight will be a rematch against Pacquiao. If Mayweather reaches 49-0, he will tie his record with Rocky Marciano.
Both men have walked away from the fight richer, as Mayweather made a whopping $100 million at the end of the bout. "The check got 9 figures on it, baby," he said. He's also getting paid 60 percent of the revenue from the fight. Pacquiao is reported to be paid upwards to $80 million.
