Ja Rule has truly shown the hip-hop world another side to him with his family-based television series, Follow the Rules. While discussing his loved ones in this clip from his recent interview with Vibe Magazine, Ja Rule got rather emotional when speaking about his son's fear of having a run-in with police. "I [told him] 'I work too hard for you to feel that way, yo," he said. "That's why you live in this house and in this neighborhood - because I don't want you to feel like that, yo. You shouldn't have to feel like how I felt growing up. Looking over your shoulder every five minutes for the police when you['re] driving cars, looking in your rearview [mirror] to make sure they ain't behind you and s***.' He shouldn't have to feel like that."
During the interview Ja Rule also mentioned his longtime rival, 50 Cent, and how these days there's no serious beef between them because they realize there are more important things at stake. "We are two young, Black men that came from the bottom, that came from nothing & was able to make something of our lives, make something of ourselves and feed our families and give other young Black men an opportunity. You know, give them jobs and s*** to help their families. So for me that's breaking the cycle."
He also advised people to break away from those who have the "crab in a bucket" mentality. "Don't be mad 'cause this man over here doing what he doing," said Ja. "Get out on your grind and go get yours, man."
