Shyne reunited with former boss Puff Daddy at Bad Boy’s 20th Anniversary show in Brooklyn this weekend via satellite.
The rapper appeared on video at Saturday's show at the Barclays Center and and greeted the crowd from Belize. “Barclays center what up. You know it couldn’t be a Bad Boy reunion without Shyne Po. Live from Belize. Happy birthday to the greatest rapper of all time. The Notorious B.I.G.,” said Shyne before launching into his biggest hit, "Bad Boyz."
This marks one of the first times the two have performed together in over 15 years, even if the rapper only was on the big screen. The two fell out in 2001 after Puff Daddy was acquitted in a club shooting that involved the two. Shyne ended up doing a 10 year bid and was released in 2009, only to be deported. In 2012, it appeared that the two had reconciled and were photographed together in Paris. The rapper threw off fans off when he converted to orthodox Judaism. After dropping a mixtape in 2012, he’s mostly remained out of the public eye, but it looks like he might become a staple in the upcoming Bad Boy Anniversary tour.
Aside from the family reunion, friends like Swizz Beatz, DMX, Fabolous, and Desiiger also showed up to the Barclay’s Center this weekend to celebrate with Bad Boy. DMX paid homage to Notorious B.I.G. after performing hits like “Ruff Ryders Anthem”, “Party Up” and “What These B****es Want.” “This is the birthday of one of rap’s legends,” he said. “This is the birthday of one, who has inspired me when not many people inspired me. We have to remember why we’re here and say happy birthday and celebrate his life, as opposed to mourning his death.”
