Although Willie D has shot to fame with the success of the Geto Boys, the Houston rapper revealed to VladTV that he initially didn't want to join the group.
He explained that after nailing an audition for Rap-A-Lot's J. Prince and scoring a solo record deal, Prince later asked him to join the Geto Boys, which he wasn't interested in. Fast forward a short time later and Willie recorded music with Scarface and Jukebox, who later left the group. It was at this time that Willie saw potential in then-hypeman Bushwick Bill joining the group.
During the conversation Willie also shared what he thinks happened when Bill was shot in the eye. He explained that while he never got a straight answer, he believes that Bill was heavily drinking one night, which led to an argument with his girlfriend, and the gun accidentally went off. While some believe that Bill shot himself in a suicide attempt, Willie cleared things up by saying that if Bill was trying to kill himself, he would have went through with the job.
