The death of 23-year old Tyrice "Lor Scoota" Watson of Clifton Avenue has been confirmed by Baltimore City police. Cops call Watson a "targeted" shooting after he was shot while driving Saturday evening.
According to sources, Lor Scoota, one of Baltimore's up and coming rappers, was leaving the "Touch The People Pray For Peace in these Streets Charity Basketball Game", when he was shot and subsequently killed.
At about 6:56 p.m., Lor Scoota was shot while driving his vehicle eastbound on Moravia Road at Harford Road, when an unidentified black man began firing a weapon after stepping into the street, police said. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Homicide detectives have now taken over the investigation.
The suspect was last seen wearing a white bandanna, but no additional information is available at this time.
Baltimore Councilman Nick J. Mosby released the following statement in response to passing of Tyrice "Lor Scoota" Watson:
"I am saddened to hear about the senseless murder of Tyrice "Lor Scoota" Watson. He had a heart for youth and took the time out of his schedule to join me on my #EyeAmBaltimore Tour to high schools in West Baltimore following last year's uprising where he spoke about the importance of staying in school."
