Beanie Sigel believes mumble rappers, dyed hair, and skinny jeans wouldn’t be a part of hip-hop if 2Pac were still alive today.
The rapper explained how the legendary Outlawz’s presence would have changed the current climate in the rap world at this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards. “I know for a fact; we wouldn’t have grown men walking around with skinny jeans with their butt out. Dudes wouldn’t be wearing dresses. People wouldn’t be dying their hair purple, green, [or] orange,” said Sigel. “The content of the music today wouldn’t be the same word repeated 50 times with a nice beat and an 808 drop. Men would be men. Women would be women. Imma leave it at that.”
Beanie Sigel always pays homage to Pac and appreciates the fact that he and the Notorious B.I.G. were able to rap about such mature topics when they were in their early 20s. Most of today’s young rappers don’t have that same ability, according to the Philly emcee. “Put it like this, two of the best that ever done it, Tupac and Biggie Smalls. They both died in they early twenties. So, you look at the rappers that’s out now. And the content of the music that they talking about. That’s in they twenties. No disrespect to nobody…but if the shoe fit, wear it,” said Sigel to HipHopDX back in June.
