Omaha police arrested, then released boxing champion Terence Crawford, in connection with a fist fight involving the mother of his five children and a woman alleged to be his mistress on Tuesday, March 7.

According to Mystery Wakefield, at around 10 a.m. two women showed up at her place of employment, Citi Trends, looking for a fight, but left when she informed them that her shift would not be over until later in the day. At around 1 p.m. another woman, said to be Crawford's long time partner Alindra Person, showed up and waited for Wakefield to clock out and meet her in the parking lot. A recording of the incident was taken by a bystander believed to be an associate of Person's. Both women appeared to prepare for and willingly engage before a crowd standing around to watch the altercation.

Minutes into the fight, a couple of cars pulled up and Crawford was seen exiting one of them and interjecting himself into the conflict. He didn't appear to get physical at any point, but would be arrested blocks away from the N. 30th street location where the disturbance had taken place, after attempting to bail from the scene. Police confirm that his vehicle was stopped as a direct result of a call they had received about the fight.

Wakefield insisted that charges be brought up against the parties involved, but after reviewing video surveillance taken by several businesses within the vicinity, authorities saw no reason to hold Crawford for anything more than questioning. The 29-year-old fighter could have easily found himself in more trouble, as authorities claim to have found a firearm in the vehicle, and Crawford remains on probation for a disorderly conduct and property damage conviction he incurred after a violent dispute he was involved in at an auto shop in 2016.
