After losing last year's NCAA championship game at the buzzer to Villanova, UNC repeated their run to the finals and this year walked away victorious in a 71-65 win over Gonzaga. It was Gonzaga's first appearance in the Final Four.

The win represents UNC's 6th title, the 3rd for coach Roy Williams.

Joel Berry II, named the tournament’s most outstanding player, went for 22 points and 6 assists, and Kennedy Meeks, who went for 7 and 10, contributed a block in the closing seconds that sealed the deal for UNC.
