LeBron James recently took to Instagram to deliver an inspirational message saying that the world doesn't need more versions of him, but more doctors, lawyers, scientists, etc. Now, the NBA star is looking to provide more support for kids from his hometown beyond words, as James is looking to open up a public school for at-risk youth who could possibly be left behind.

The NBA star is teaming up with Akron Public School to create the "I Promise School." James gave some insight into his plan for the school, saying, "This school is so important to me because our vision is to create a place for the kids in Akron who need it most - those that could fall through the cracks if we don't do something." James made it clear that it is important to reach the youth earlier before it's too late, saying, "If we can get to them early enough, we can hopefully keep them on the right track to a bigger and brighter future for themselves and their families."

The "I Promise School" will have support from LeBron James' family foundation, and is set to be opened by 2018. The focus of the school will be geared towards third and fourth graders, and will expand so that the focus can be on students from first to eighth grade by 2022. In the past, LeBron James teamed up with the University of Akron to give a four-year scholarship to students in his Family Foundation program who qualified.
