It was confirmed last year that a police raid on J. Cole's North Carolina studio was the inspiration behind "Neighbors" off of Cole's album "4 Your Eyez Only." Neighbors assumed that the house where Cole was recording was a hub for drug distribution, alerting the police who conducted the raid. Producer Elite had this to say in an interview with Complex:
"They flew helicopters over, sent an entire SWAT team armed with weapons, broke down the door and searched the whole house," he said. "They go downstairs and all they see is a studio, and obviously they felt stupid."
The raid took place during the SXSW festival in Texas, so no one was present during the police raid, which often times can turn fatal. Footage has been released on of the raid, watch above.
