Tee Grizzley was released from prison last November after serving three years for home invasion, and since then the Detroit spitter has seen a massive surge in popularity.
Grizzley's hit song, "First Day Out," dropped a few days after he left prison and currently has around 46 million views on YouTube. The success of the track helped the 23-year-old rhymer land a record deal with 300 Entertainment earlier this year.
He recently sat down with DJ Self where he spoke on his unexpected success and time spent incarcerated.
Closing out the interview, Grizzley came off the top with an a cappella freestyle in which he candidly rapped about the despair that's involved with being in the system.
"I done seen n***as get fried in that courtroom / Boy, and they thought they was coming home," began Grizzley. "I done seen a judge take all of a n***a's dreams, and crush them b**ches up like they was brittle bones...I done seen a n***a come home from 20 years, and get killed in the same day / And I done seen a n***a come home from 10 years, and get locked right back up for the same thing."
Listen to Grizzley's freestyle beginning at the 4:30 mark.
