The 8th Annual OVO Fest will include a couple of new members when it comes around in August, thanks to the signing of a few artists, new and old, to the label. Earlier this month it was announced that the Toronto imprint was bringing r&b singer Plaza aboard. And more recently Drake personally extended his gratitude before a crowd of supporters, as he officially welcomed his old homie Baka to the team.
A recording of Drake handing Baka a pen to sign on the spot surfaced and began making rounds on Wednesday, June 28. In the video clip, a crowd that includes French Montana can be seen cheering the "Whip" and "Live Up to My Name" rapper on as he puts inks a contract handed to him by his new boss. Fans might recall an occasional reference to Baka on such songs as "No Long Talk" and "Know Yourself." He also has credit for contributions made to "From Time," "Free Smoke," and "Gyalchester."
“When he got out of jail, there’s a lot of different paths that he could have took. He decided to focus on music,” Drake said before making the signing official. “I just want to give this pen to my brother. I love you, G. Trust me. You’ve been holding it down for a long time.”
