Former Ruff Ryders rapper Drag-On is tired of hearing rap vets yap on about the state of hip-hop in the hands of the current generation of artists. The Opposite of H2O spitter took to Instagram on Friday, June 30, to speak on those who lament on the style and substance younger artists are bringing to the game. According to Drag-On, what they need to do is stop throwing shots from the sidelines and get on the ball.
"This message is for all of the rappers that are cut from the same cloth that I'm cut from. Bust it: Quit gettin' up out there and hating on these lil new rappers man. For real. Stop hatin' on these lil new n****s B. You startin' to make yourself look real stupid. If you feel as if though what they doing is not hip-hop, Get yo a** back in the studio bruh, and get to it," he said. "It's startin' to look like you hatin' because n****s is winning. Get your a** back in the lab and start winning n***a."
Drag-On lists no names in the video but anyone who has remained privy to what's going on in the culture might be able to pinpoint a rapper or two who haven't held their tongues on where the genre has gone.
Do you agree or disagree with Drag-On's advice? If so, who do you think he might be directing this message towards?
