Dave Chappelle is gearing up for a residency at Radio City Music Hall in New York this August, and now the comedian has made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to speak more about his shows. Chappelle talked about his upbringing in comedy, and also about hosting SNL. Colbert asked Chappelle to speak on the comments that he made about Trump, saying that America should “give him a chance” before judging. Now, Chappelle has clarified his statements even further after being asked how he felt about Trump’s progress since his SNL monologue. The comedian said, “It’s not like I wanted to give him a chance that night.”

Chappelle went on to say that he contextualized his monologue with a skit featuring Chris Rock, saying “I feel like a lot of white Americans finally got to see what an election night looks like for many Black Americans every cycle.” Watch above.
