A video showing a California police officer drawing his weapon during a routine traffic stop has garnered national attention and is the latest video recording to shine a light on police officers' seeming willingness to use deadly force, especially on people of color.

The Campbell Police Department said the officer pulled over the driver, who was speeding, on July 28th. In the video, apparently captured by the driver, the as-of-yet unidentified officer points his gun at a male passenger for an extended period of time.

“Why are you still pointing the gun at me, bro?” the passenger asks. Throughout the video, the passenger insists that his hands are where the officer can see them. "My hands are right here," the passenger says. "We’re looking for the f—ing paperwork, bro. Oh my God."

Campbell police Capt. Gary Berg said that a discrepancy arose when the officer asked to see the driver's license and registration, at which point the male passenger began reaching under his seat.

Berg said the incident ended amicably.
