Earlier this year, Kendall Jenner was tapped by Pepsi to star in an ad that became super-controversial. The ad featured protests happening, with Jenner essentially using a can of Pepsi to unite both sides of the protest. From there, the backlash began because many felt the ad was tone-deaf and tried to commercialize protests taking place in America. Along with that, many felt the ad tried to downplay the stressful tensions that were present at many rallies and protests held by organizations like Black Lives Matter, who have mainly spent their protesting police brutality and injustice against black Americans.
Since then, Jenner has taken to her family’s show Keeping Up With The Kardashians to finally address the backlash. Jenner said that when she started seeing the negative things being said about the ad, she “didn’t even know what to do,” and that “It’s really depressing and it bothers me every single day.” From there, Jenner had a solo interview on the show where she said “I would never purposely hurt someone, ever. And obviously, if I knew this was gonna be the outcome, I would have never done something like this. I felt so f—king stupid. The [idea] that I would offend other people or hurt other people was definitely not the intent. And that’s what got me the most.”
