Chicago's very own Lupe Fiasco has just launched a production company with Hong Kong businesswoman Bonnie Chan Woo. The company's focus will coincide with Lupe's longtime interest in East Asian culture. Studio SV will be HQ'd in both Los Angeles and Hong Kong and will focus on content development, finance, and production. Lupe and Woo are looking to develop content for an international audience that spans television, film, and content for digital platforms.
The company's first project will be a docuseries featuring Lupe's cross-cultural excursion through China entitled Beat n Path where the rapper will practice the martial arts with Kung Fu masters to trading bars with Chinese MCs. Lupe stated:
At our core we seek to nurture and champion creative talent who have like-minded visions of creating exceptional cross-cultural content that can be enjoyed universally -- not just in specific countries or regions.
Woo added,
Our first series was hatched from an idea I had to capture, on camera, Lupe's experience in China, where he ventured on a journey of introspective thinking through the practice of martial arts, a personal passion of his.
