It appears John Salley believes its time for NBA commissioner Adam Silver to pull marijuana off the league's banned substance list after David Stern advocated for the move.
During an interview with TMZ on Wednesday, October 25, Salley explained that he believes Adam Silver will eventually change the rules against marijuana in the league, citing Silver's willingness to push the needle on social issues.
"Adam Silver you've been the man so far. Just take it off the list and come blaze witcha boy," Salley said after being asked on the subject. "The best thing about Adam silver is we saw him at the gay pride parade. He is all about change and about the flow of what's going on in society. He is connected."
He continued, "The way he even fired or rid our league of Donald Sterling. I mean that right there tells you this guy is about making the best he can for the league."
While many states have passed laws allowing for recreational marijuana usage, Salley maintains that the NBA should remove the drug from the banned list as it poses less of a threat than alcohol.
"I call it a safer alternative. I don't know that many players with DU highs. They got dudes with DUI but, not DU highs. So it's going to take a hit to the beverage companies but its a safer, better, cleaner alternative for your health."
