2017 has been the year of Cardi B. The Bronx-born rapper exploded onto the scene earlier this year after releasing her hit single “Bodak Yellow” and she has not looked back since. While she is it the first woman to hold the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100, the former Love & Hip Hop star became the first solo female rapper to reach atop the Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill in 1998, a span of almost 19 years.
Despite her breakthrough success, Cardi has gotten a lot of criticism from fans of Kodak Black, who claim she stole his flow and that has a lot to do with why the single did so well. Cardi B responded in the past, stating that she simply likes the song but also paid homage by naming the track after Kodak. Recently Jackboy, a close friend of Kodak’s, released a statement to social media condemning Cardi B for stealing Kodak’s flow and also disrespecting the Bronx rapper.
Kodak jumped on Instagram live to put the rumors to rest once for all and make it clear that he supports Cardi B’s come up. “I want Cardi B to make all the money. Soak all that s*** up, make all the money.”
