The Minnesota Vikings ensured that they'd be going home to spend the remainder of their holiday in good spirits, by collecting their seventh consecutive win with a 30-24 victory over the Detroit Lions on Thursday afternoon, November 23.
It was an outcome that was foreshadowed early in the game, with Minnesota completing the first quarter with a two-score lead that they capped off by enacting a ceremonious Thanksgiving Dinner in the end-zone after their second touchdown.
The Vikings jumped ahead 12-0 on a run for the goal-line that quarterback Case Keenum resorted to in the absence of any open targets. As soon as he dumped the ball behind him in the end zone, Keenum's teammates ran in behind him and all got on the ground in a circle.
Keenum then immediately joined in and began pretending to serve himself in an imaginary bowl, before Stefon Diggs leaped into the middle of the circle to present the ball as a make-believe turkey. "Boos" from the fans at Detroit's Ford Field proved that the crowd wasn't feeling the Vikings' theatrics, but the game's announcers got a laugh out of it all.
Keenum finished the day with 21 of 30 passes completed for 282 yards, and 2 passing touchdowns to go along with his rushing TD. Both of Keenum's touchdown passes went to tight end Kyle Rudolph, who made the most of his four completed targets.
