A Louisiana man who uploaded a video of him whipping a teenager and then cutting her hair to punish her for downloading Snapchat has been arrested on child cruelty charges.
Alex Harrison of Ferriday, La, was taken into custody after authorities traced a recording on back to the 33-year-old's Facebook page, that shows him lashing a 9th-grade girl approximately 50 times while scolding her with taunts of "she want to be grown?" Harrison also humiliates the weeping girl in the video by mocking her hygiene, before bringing her into the kitchen and shaving her head bald.
"She wanna be grown, she getting her a** whooped n her hair bald. School is for work not f****** Snapchat. She ain't got no business with no damn snap anyway. Stay tuned," Harrison tells viewers before proceeding with the beating.
"After reviewing the video, from my experience in the business, we determined the child was abused," Ferriday PD detective Richard Madison told a local news outlet.
Hordes of social media users who've come across news of the video have flocked to Harrison's Facebook page and left messages condemning his actions. It is evident through his page that he is the father of an eight-year-old, but his relation to the girl in the video isn't clear. Some publications, however, are reporting that she is the foster child of Harrison's mother.
