A Massachusetts is trying to eliminate the term "freshmen" to "first year students" in order to be more gender neutral. The change at Easthampton High School was recommended by the school's Gender and Sexuality Alliance Group. However, the school's superintendent says students could still say freshmen if they choose to.

The revised version of the school's handbook now reads:

“For the purpose of class meetings and activities, including the class dues, students will be considered first years, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.”

Previously, Easthampton High School was instructed to undergo diversity and inclusion training after racial incidents at the school.

What are your thoughts on the suggested change?
