The launch of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket on Friday (December 22) sparked alarm in Southern California to those unaware of the event, which took place at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The rocket was carrying 10 satellites to low-Earth orbit, which will be included in a constellation operated by Iridium Communications.
