But for a few unlucky drivers, the attention the rocket commanded shortly after it took off from Vandenberg Air Force Base, would nearly prove deadly.
A recording taken from the dashcam of a motorist who marveled over his illustrious view of the rocket - shows the moment a vehicle came skidding in front of oncoming traffic. While many driving along local highways and roads pulled over to enjoy the flight, others slowed down to get a glimpse, but none-the-less kept their cars in drive. The result was a pile-up on one Cali motorway. According to reports, the white car that comes flying into the view of the footage made the mistake of slowing up in the fast lane. In an instant, an SUV that had been trailing the vehicle, came plowing ahead.
After swerving out of the way to avoid a collision with the car, the driver behind the recording begins to bicker with his family as they plead for him to pay attention to the road. But within moments they were back to chatting about the launch.
