DJ Akademiks saw the best year of his professional life take a turn for the worst as he watched his partner at Complex walk away from their hit show in the latter part of 2017 - and judging by a bit of untimely news he's shared with his 'Chat N#gga' following, it doesn't sound like his fortunes will be turning around for him heading into the early part of the new year. According to Ak, there is a good chance that a recent run-in he had with the law will result in him having to take a hiatus as he serves out a potential stint in jail.
Early Wednesday, January 3, a recording shot by his girlfriend Angelica Ggx followed Akademiks into a courtroom and photos shared across the internet showed him facing a judge. Hours earlier he released a video in which he explained that he was potentially facing time for an unspecified offense. And according to Ak, the prosecution apparently has a witness they can use against him.
"They might lock a n***a up in the morning ... caught a little case, you feel me? I thought about running, but I didn't kill nobody," he told his followers. "The worst they could give me is like five to ten years. I could snitch on like five people and probably get a couple of months; that's a joke, that's a joke."
Word has been going around that the 26-year-old social media curator was called in for a hearing concerning a traffic stop over a busted tail light that resulted in officers recovering open alcohol containers and an unlicensed firearm.
