Erykah Badu's shout out to some of the orchestrators of the #TimesUp movement that went down at the 75th annual Golden Globes awards on Sunday night (January 7) took a trivial turn when her baby daddy Jay Electronica introduced himself into the conversation.
"Triiiiiiiiiick, stop talking that s**t. And you know the rest," Jay commented. His response confused many, as the language used seemed to undermine Badu's tribute to the likes of Tracee Ellis Ross, Kerry Washington, Mary J. Blige and Jenelle Monae, for their work to continue shining a light on sexual assault and oppression against women. However, Badu immediately found herself on the same page as her former lover and picked up on the DJ Jubilee song where Jay left off.
"...and suck a ni%a dkci for a outfit .. I wanna pair of all stars some khaki pants a gold chain and some Money fan the dance," Badu continued, in a response that she completed with a series of emojis.
A screenshot of the exchange was captured and posted to The Shade Room on Monday. Before long followers who were familiar with the early 90's Southern hit ("Do The Jubilee All") were laughing right along with the lyricist and the crooner.
