It's been a disappointing season so far for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They were supposed to be a lock to make it back to the NBA Finals again for the fourth straight time. Now, at the halfway point of the season, they're third in the Eastern Conference and one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA.
To make matters worse, it seems like every week a new story comes out about how much the team doesn't get along. The latest drama is centered around some of the Cavs players anonymously criticizing former all-star Isaiah Thomas' shot selection to reporters. Thomas obviously wasn't happy.
"Dang, it’s like that? I mean, if they’re worried about my shot selection, they must not have seen me play the last few years. That’s all I can say about that. If somebody’s worried about that, what did you trade me here for? To not shoot? To not find my rhythm? To not be Isaiah Thomas? I can’t be anybody else, so whoever’s saying that I mean, I don’t know what I’m here for if I’m not here to score the ball and make plays... after being off seven months."
Issues like this only come up when a team is losing. Thomas is right to be upset considering he's still trying to get his rhythm back after taking seven months off to recover from hip surgery. The criticism is even more unfair considering it came from an anonymous source. If the Cavs are going to salvage this season, Isaiah Thomas will have to return to MVP form sooner rather than later.
