Although Meek Mill is currently incarcerated, his presence is being felt now more than ever. The Philadelphia Eagles will reportedly use Meek's "Dreams And Nightmares (Intro)," from his 2012 album Dreams And Nightmares, for their entrance music when they take the field in the Super Bowl Sunday. Meek Mill is a Philadelphia native and avid Philadelphia sports fan.
NFL.com asked Eagles Pro Bowl defensive end Brandon Graham about the decision during his media availability at Media Day. Judging by his response, the choice was apparently an easy one.
“If you’re going to go with a Philly song, that’s the one you’re going with," Graham said.
Former 2017 1st round pick for the Eagles Derek Barnett shared his teammates' thoughts on the intro music and offered some support for Meek Mill.
“Meek, you know, he’s locked up right now, so we have to hold the city down for him. It just gets us going. It gives us good energy. Just a little extra juice” Barnett said.
Meek Mill is currently serving a two to four-year prison sentence for a probation violation despite the prosecutor and probation officer both suggesting no jail time. Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin also made known his support for Meek Mill and wrote a letter to help him get a lighter sentence.
