Genius recently linked up with music videographer, Picture Perfect, to get his break-down of the process that went into producing the project.
The 500 Benz director says that he was thrilled to get a call about helping Cardi bring the track to television, seeing as he was a fan of the single. He was that much more pleased to then find out that there wouldn't need to be a whole lot of planning for the set, considering the former reality television star was heading for Dubai; which was in his eyes an ideal location to shoot.
The primary challenge, according to Picture Perfect, was his plan to use a couple of animals to go with the deserts and lavish architecture of the wealthy city.
Picture Perfect remembers the scene featuring Cardi riding a camel to have been nerve wrecking for the rapper. He says that he had to film one particular shot over and over for viewers to get a good glimpse at her red bottoms. They'd eventually pull the moment off, but not without a bit of rushing from Cardi as she grew anxious about being propped up on the animal. But the camel would prove to be the least of Cardi's worries.
"I didn’t know how hard it was gonna be to get a cheetah out there." Picture Perfect said as Genius' behind the scenes clip showed raw footage of her rapping with the feline used in the video on a leash. As he'd go on to tell it, they wound up having to replace that particular cheetah for another after it frightened her with a flash of aggression. "We shot this other scene we didn't use, and he attacked Cardi in that scene," he said.
