Officers in Brooklyn's 71st Precinct have got some explaining to do after a Facebook Live video shot by suspects in one of the Crown Heights stationhouse's cells went viral over the weekend.
In the video, rapper 22gz and various members of The Blixkys are seen repping their GD affiliation after being netted in a gang sweep. What has the NYPD brass most concerned, however, is that it appears as though the young men were not searched and stripped of their possessions. As the fellas walk up to the cellphone camera to flash signs, so too is cash and marijuana produced for those tuning in to the stream to see.
The back of several officers' jackets are seen through the bars of the cell, but at no time throughout the recording do any of them turn around to pay mind to the bunch. A spokesperson for the department has confirmed that the situation is under investigation, as a result.
How long the group was kept in detention has so far gone unreported. For the most part, 22gz is walking on thin ice with the law, considering how he was let off of the hook for a murder he was charged with committing in Miami last May.
