Videos surfaced of "Gummo" rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine and his crew getting in a brawl outside an LAX terminal earlier this week. Prior to the fight, in which 6ix9ine was unharmed, Tekashi spoke with TMZ about a number of topics including gun control, new-school hip-hop, his own relevancy, and the lifestyles portrayed in rap culture.ss

Rakim and Eric B. famously tweeted that fans are witnessing the "devolution of rap" earlier this month, and TMZ asked Tekashi how he felt about statements such as those.

"Music changes," answers Tekashi. He continues on to repeat himself stating, "Music changes, every year. In 2019, 2020, I don't even know if I'll be relevant anymore."

The reporter then brings up the recent massacre in Parkland, Florida, where 17 people were slaughtered in a school shooting. "A lot of people are blaming the media, the rap music," starts the reporter before Tekashi interrupts him. "It's not the rap music. It's just us showing where we live," asserts the rapper, speaking about the guns that are brandished in hip-hop videos. "People look at it like, 'yo, this is bad, this is bad, this is all bad, but they don't know it's just us showing our environment," continues Tekashi.

"I think guns should be taken out of kids hands," states 6ix9ine when he's asked about gun control.
