Last night, Dwyane Wade hit a game-winning shot to secure a win for his Miami Heat team against the Philadelphia 76ers. What many didn't know about Wade's performance is that he honored one particular victim of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in plain sight with his very own signature sneaker in the Li-Ning Wade of Wade VI.

Days ago, it was brought to Dwyane Wade's attention that one of the seventeen victims, Joaquin Oliver, was buried in his very own Miami Heat jersey. After finding out this information, Wade has publicly spoken out in support of all the victims of the mass shooting before exhibition games on the mic and on his social media platforms. This is what Wade had to say about Oliver after finding out that he was buried in his Heat jersey:

"This is Joaquin Oliver. He was one of the 17 young lives that were lost tragically at Douglas HighSchool in Parkland. Joaquin was one of many that I heard was excited about my return to Miami and yesterday was buried in my jersey. This is why we will not just SHUT up and dribble!"

Wade also added, "It’s way BIGGER than basketball. We are the voices for the people that don’t get to be heard. Joaquin Oliver may you Rest In Peace and I dedicate my return and the rest of this Miami Heat season to you."

Dwyane's Li-Ning WoW VI came in a simplistic monochromatic black colorway complete with a custom handwritten phrase in the form of Joaquin Oliver's name on the right sneaker's lateral heel. The Miami Heat will also be wearing 'MSD' patches in support of the lives lost in the Parkland, FL mass shooting as well.

Luckily, athletes have the social consciousness and platforms to speak out against tragedies to spread awareness and show their support for people who might not have the voice to do so. With that said, much respect to Dwyane Wade, the Miami Heat organization, and rest in power to all of the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
