Netflix is set to drop a new documentary profiling the controversial figure Rachel Dolezal who rose to prominence after it was revealed that she lied about being a Black woman. Dolezal was the president of the Spokane, WA branch of the NAACP before her story broke into the mainstream. The outrage surrounding Dolezal got worse as she stoked the flames by not backing off of her self-identification as "trans-Black."
The documentary, which chronicles Dolezal's life for two years, seeks to paint a more complex and nuanced picture of the transracial woman while also profiling those closest to her. The Rachel Divide is set to make its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival before heading over to Netflix on April 27.
