A duo of Atlanta news anchors paid tribute to the late Craig Mack during Tuesday's broadcast by slipping in several lines from his hit 1994 single "Flava in Ya Ear."
WSB-TV anchors Fred Blankenship and Mark Arum are clearly fans of hip-hop; they're the same guys who paid tribute to Prodigy after his passing last summer with some Mobb Deep references during their broadcast, and after the release of the film All Eyez On Me, the guys inserted several 2Pac lyrics into their reporting.
On Tuesday, however, it was all about giving some shine to Mack. "You wanna have a big breakfast before you head out of the house. A piece of Sizzlean with eggs and grits in between," said Arum while beginning his traffic report. Later, he dropped another line while providing a traffic update. "Fred, as you know, 285 traffic is everlasting like the toe on Pro-Keds."
Blankenship got in on the tribute as well, referring to his meteorologist as the one with "the data to turn your body into anti-matter" while passing the broadcast over to her.
Mack died Mar. 13 from what was initially described as natural causes. Later, his good friend Erick Sermon revealed to TMZ that Mack passed away from congestive heart failure.
