Any real hip-hop head is knowledgeable of Mistah Fab's legendary status. Not only is he one of the best freestylers alive and direct descendants of Mac Dre, he's a Bay Area pioneer that has never abandoned his neighborhood or people. As for Snoop Dogg, we all recognize him as a world-renowned superstar who's been able to successfully rebrand himself over the course of time. Snoop has also become an integral part of the development of Los Angeles youth with his self-funded adolescent football league.
Now, both Mistah Fab and Snoop Dogg have come together for the re-opening of Mistah Fab's Dope Era clothing store in downtown Oakland. Fab was forced to relocate from his original location after the owner of the property refused to resign the lease.
With Snoop in the house at the re-opening of the Dope Era retailer, fans around the Bay came to break bread with the Long Beach-born entertainer and of course, Snoop charismatically and sincerely provided those in attendance with motivation and guidance. In the video, Snoop can be heard telling two young fans the following, "... keep doing what you guys are doing because what you're doing is amazing. Be you, be original, be unique, be loving, and be caring 'cause the energy that you put out is the energy that you're gonna get back."
Local Bay Area news networks even got in on the festivities and spoke with Snoop and Fab as well. Snoop told KTVU2 about his support of Mistah Fab's retail location,
"For me to come out to the Bay to support him [Mistah Fab] means the world to me and it means the world to him. This is what it's all about, to show support for black businesses, to put something positive in the community. We both come from poverty-stricken areas where there's a lot of negativity but, we've risen and we're doing positive things."
At one point in time, many thought that hip-hop wouldn't age gracefully but it looks like some of the most legendary figures of this generation are pushing a narrative of positivity, financial freedom, nonviolence, and fiscal responsibility. Mistah Fab is instilling a mindset and vision for the Bay Area youth to succeed despite their circumstances and that's something worthy of respect.
For those of you in Bay or if you ever find yourself in Oakland, support Mistah Fab at his Dope Era clothing store at 1764 Broadway in downtown Oakland.
