Trippie Redd was quick to debunk Tekashi 6ix9ine's insistence, over the weekend, that in the absence of any gold or platinum records his friend-turned-foe from Ohio can't speak on his run in the game. Only hours after 6ix9ine unloaded on him, Trippie took to social media to assert that he, in fact, does have the certifications that his Brooklyn counterpart has, but just doesn't exert his energy bragging about it.
"Aye, look... I don't know what be going through n****s heads, or whatever; talking about 'If n****s don't have platinum plaques like I have. If n****s don't have gold records like I have.' N***a, I have platinum and gold records. I just don't make a skit on the internet about it," Trippie said in a video that found its way to Instagram. "But, if somebody put you on n***a, you give credit where it's due," he said.
6ix9ine and Trippie's latest quarrel was sparked by a DM that DJ Akademiks got a hold of and posted on Saturday, May 5. In the alleged "drunken comment" Trippie wrote: "I gave dude a name and he should be happy and showing me mad love." His remarks would prompt a strong rebuke from Tekashi, which in turn got Trippie to come back at him.
For the record, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) website does confirm that "Bust Down," "Dark Knight Dummo," "Poles 1469," and "Love Scars" have all obtained gold and platinum certification.
