According to reports, a 14-year-old boy was pulled aside by a manager at a Kansas movie theatre and subsequently handcuffed because his pants were sagging. Alonzo Taylor Jr. reportedly went to a local movie theater in Wichita, Kansas, with some friends to see Avengers when he was stopped and harassed by a manager for not having a belt on.
"A couple of seconds after leaving the concessions counter, the manager walked up and said to pull up your pants or you'll be escorted," Alonzo said.
"I was by the counter and he said, 'You're going to have to leave. I don't care what you did. You're trespassing,'" he said of the manager.
The manager demanded he pull up his pants but when Alonzo put down his snacks to do so, the manager called a police officer and had him arrested anyway. An officer from the Wichita Police Department reportedly arrested Alonzo, threw away his snacks and told his mother that if she did not set up a court date, there could be possible jail time for her as well.
"I just don't want my son's record to be messed up over sagging and to be labeled as a trespasser," Ruth Dennis, Alonzo's mother, said.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage of the incident. It's unclear whether Taylor will actually be charged with trespassing, but I'm sure he won't be going back to that movie theatre again.
